If you are in Los Angeles, Patton Oswalt will take part in a live reading of The Breakfast Club this Thursday at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art to raise funds for Film Independent (the group behind the Spirit Awards).
The Walking Dead, still scored by Bear McCreary, returned yesterday and broke the cable ratings record with its season premiere.
Elsewhere in Undead, remember Bryan Singer's Battlestar Galactica movie (TOS reboot, not really related to our BSG & Caprica) that was supposed to happen at one point but didn't? Looks like it zombied its way back to life. Here is what Singer told SFX the other day, when asked about his Excalibur remake not going ahead:
“Yeah, unfortunately it is no longer going to happen,” he says. “I was really enthused to do it. I’m a fan of John Boorman’s movie and it was my intention to get it going after Jack The Giant Killer was completed. The project was with Warner Bros and what happened is that another King Arthur project was brought to them during that time. Basically, it was just more ready to go into production than ours was. That is why our version of Excalibur ended up being negated. But, when that happened, it allowed me to go straight into developing Battlestar Galactica – which I think will be really exciting.”A couple of updates to the TV Appearances page:
Jamie Bamber will make an appearance in the Nov. 7 episode of House. TV Fanatic has the report.
And for the UK fans: James Callis will show up in the next episode of Merlin, "Aithusa," which airs this Saturday at 8:15 pm on BBC One. He mentioned working on the show a few months ago (something about a horse), so if you get a chance, watch the episode. It won't air in the US until January. Preview below.

Assignment X posted the second part of their Husbands set visit report, which includes interviews with the cast, director and Jane Espenson. Here is what Jane said about Alessandra Torresani's character:
“Her part was written specifically for her,” Espenson says. “We wrote her as sort of a young Karen Walker [the Megan Mullally character] from WILL AND GRACE, so she’s a little drunk, she’s a little famous, she loves Cheeks, she plays Cheeks’ best friend, who is a little ambivalent about this marriage. She’s going to fly off into the air without Cheeks there to ground her, and now Cheeks is giving all of his time and energy to Brady, and so she’s worried that she won’t be part of his life any more, so she keeps trying to insert herself into this marriage. So she has a line where she says, ‘I’m so glad we got married.’ She’s thinking of herself as a big part of this, and Brady really doesn’t want her in his marriage. So we’ve got a nice little triangle.[Torresani is] a natural blonde, which I didn’t know, she’s got the 1930s madcap blonde energy. She’s fantastic. Scott Porter was on KTLA earlier (link to video) and he also talked to Zap2it about tonight's episode of Hart of Dixie:
"All the guys take their shirts off." It's true, Dixie fans -- we've seen the episode, and let's just say that the wardrobe department must have had a lot of free time that week.
Of course, being the town's well-respected lawyer and all-around voice of reason, Scott's character George eventually buttons up. "He tries not to lose control," Scott says. "I think it's coming down the pike at some point; he's going to have some huge shake-ups in his life at one time or another. You'll see him get frustrated here and there. He's a very quiet volcano and I think eventually he might blow up, but for right now, he's the one kind of captaining the ship, trying to keep everybody sane."
