Grimm premiere tonight (9/8c, NBC), new interviews with Sasha Roiz & Friday roundup

Grimm finally premieres tonight at 9 pm on NBC and a bunch of new articles and interviews have showed up since yesterday.

Teresa Jusino has an excellent new interview with Sasha Roiz at Tor.com, mostly about Grimm, but some of this other recent projects get mentioned too, including Caprica.
Knowing that Roiz has expressed a preference for fantasy over sci-fi, I asked him whether this being an urban fantasy (created by Angel exec producers, David Greenwalt and Jim Kouf no less!) had something to do with his accepting the role.

“Personally, as an actor, it matters very little me what genre (if any) I’m engaged in.” he says. “It’s all make-believe and requires the same process and imagination. I respond to good writing and good people. I’ve been very fortunate over the years to get both. I think the term ‘genre’ has become very gray in recent years, and we continue to see a crossover as more and more viewers are tuning into to shows that stimulate and indulge their imagination. With Grimm, it’s a lot of fun for me to be able to play within the familiar world of fairy tales. As for satisfying my inner fantasy geek, anything that would have me wielding a sword or shooting a bow would be a dream.”

The TV Addict has interviews with the whole main cast. Here are a couple of snippets from Sasha and Reggie Lee:
What is the relationship between Captain Renard and Sergeant Wu like?
REGGIE From what I understand, our characters are intertwined and it will become obvious who each one of us is in the show — that’s about as much as I think I can talk about.
SASHA: I think it is clear that I will play the antagonizing element. We all have interaction with Nick and each other in the precinct, but it may go beyond those limits — eventually, it will go beyond those limits.
How does your character fit into the Grimm-aspects of the story?
SASHA: I may be one of the few who is not a creature. I think Renard has a specific set of plans and goals, and Nick will have to either comply, or I’ll have to get him out of my way.
REGGIE I think to the degree that each of us knows what’s going on is fun ’cause some of us don’t know what is going on and we’re wondering why Nick is looking at people weird.
Buddy TV has a really great video interview with Sasha. He gives away some pretty interesting stuff about his character and some of the upcoming episodes.

And another cool interview to revisit is the one on Jim Halterman's blog. Snippets:
JH: Would you call [Renard] a bad guy?
SR: I think for our purposes, he’s definitely going to be a difficult guy. He’s going to be an intriguing guy and a complicated guy. I think when we reveal a lot about him personally – and there are a lot of episodes where he’s featured quite heavily – I think we’re going to really embrace this character because he has a lot going on and some amazing storylines and backstory.

JH: Is Renard someone that you already have figured out in terms of his psychology?
SR: Preliminary things I’ve figured out but the nature of episodic TV is that as things come in and as we progress, [the writers] get to know us as actors, we get to know them as writers and we find a symbiosis and so along the way we can form a real working relationship. Some things are already established and I’m looking forward to discovering what they will be.
Note that Grimm and Chuck are up against baseball, with several other Friday dramas (Fringe, Blue Bloods, CSI: NY, A Gifted Man) benched for the day, so if the ratings aren't great, it's best not to panic before the DVR numbers come in. Chuck, with Mark Hamill guest starring, starts at 8 pm.

The show summary & new teaser (and more updates after the jump):
Remember the fairy tales your parents used to tell you before bedtime? Those weren’t stories — they were warnings. Nick Burkhardt (David Guintoli “Turn The Beat Around”) thought he prepared himself for the realities of working as a homicide detective until he started seeing things he couldn’t quite explain. When his ailing Aunt Marie (guest star Kate Burton, “Grey’s Anatomy”) arrives, Nick’s life turns upside down when she reveals they are descendants of an elite group of hunters, also known as “Grimms,” who fight to keep the balance of humanity safe from the supernatural creatures of the world. As Nick digs deeper into her past, he realizes that he will have to shoulder the responsibility of his ancestors — and contend with a larger-than-life mythology of the Brothers Grimm that is now all too real. Russell Hornsby (“Lincoln Heights”), Bitsie Tulloch (“Quarterlife”), Silas Weir Mitchell (“Prison Break”), Reggie Lee (“Persons Unknown”) and Sasha Roiz (“Caprica”) also star.

“Grimm” is a production of Universal Media Studios and Hazy Mills Productions. Sean Hayes and Todd Milliner (“Hot in Cleveland”) serve as executive producers, Jim Kouf (“National Treasure,” “Angel”) and David Greenwalt (“Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” “Angel”) are the creators/executive producers and Marc Buckland (“My Name Is Earl”) is the director.

From this article in Rolling Stone, it looks like the new episode of Glee that Eric Stoltz is working on will air on Tuesday, November 15.

Seat42f has the teaser for next week's American Horror Story, with Alessandra Torresani guest starring. (Not seeing her in the promo again.)

Richard Harmon wasn't the only Caprica actor in yesterday's The Secret Circle.

Hiro Kanagawa made a surprise appearance and had a pretty prominent role, too. If you didn't see the episode, it will be available on CWTV.com soon enough.

Kacey Rohl will appear in tomorrow's episode of The Haunting Hour, "Pumpkinhead," which airs at 5 pm on the Hub network.

A new episode of Sanctuary airs tonight at 10 pm on Syfy. Here are a couple of pics with Ryan Robbins, the synopsis and the teaser:

A hostage situation unfolds when Magnus flies to a remote island off of Africa to meet the Sanctuary’s new financial adviser; a shipping container mix up has Will and Henry tracking a missing abnormal.

From his last post of Facebook, it looks like Ryan Robbins won't be appearing in only one episode of Falling Skies next summer. For behind-the-scenes photos and updates on the show, you can keep checking Colin Cunningham's Falling Skies blog.

Spoiler TV has five sneak peeks from the next episode of Once Upon a Time, "The Thing You Love Most."

Christopher Heyerdahl attended the premiere of Hell on Wheels in Los Angeles yesterday. There is a photo of him here.

Avan Jogia and his Victorious co-star Liz Gillies were interviewed at the TeenNick Halo Awards (Teen Community Service Awards). Avan talked about his Straight but not Narrow campaign among other things.

More updates later this weekend.
