Richard Harmon, who will show up on The Secret Circle tomorrow (9 pm, CW), tweets that he is working on a new film, a Lifetime original called The Pregnancy Project. Here is how Deadline described it in the original announcement:
The Pregnancy Project stars Spy Kids alumna Alexa Vega and is based on the true story of 17-year-old Washington state high-school student Gaby Rodriguez who pretended to be pregnant in an effort to explore conventional stereotypes and the treatment of pregnant teens for a senior year school project.Kevin Murphy has a new pilot in development for the CW, called Unearthly. The CW, meanwhile, has given script orders to a pair of fantasy dramas: Unearthly and The Hollows.
Based on the book by Cynthia Hand, Unearthly revolves around a girl who realizes that her destiny is to become an angel. The drama reunites Hellcats executive producer/writer Kevin Murphy with the network. He'll write and executive produce the project alongside [Carol] Mendelsohn and [Julie] Weitz.
Two days left until the Grimm premiere, and some potentially not-so-great news: with Game 6 of the World Series postponed, Grimm and the new season of Chuck might end up premiering against Game 7, which probably wouldn't do any wonders for the ratings. (Fox is already plotting to pull the new episode of Fringe from the schedule if there is a Game 7 on Friday.) Deadline writes that it's unlikely that the NBC shows will be pushed back another week, so it's time to cross fingers and hope for the best. And tell everyone and their mother to watch.
Another couple of interviews with Sasha Roiz showed up since yesterday.
The first one is from the National Post:
"It’s a very dark show," agrees Sasha Roiz, a Montrealer who plays Captain Renard, Nick’s boss. "I was surprised something this scary or spooky could be a network drama. It’s very intense."The second one is from Comic Con. Not exactly new, but it just got posted on YouTube and parts of it make more sense after seeing the pilot.
It is that. People have a habit of leaping out of dark corners; I think Nick gets tackled at least three times in the premiere by such lurkers. But Grimm also comes at a time when dark and creepy is in, from The Walking Dead to Fringe to True Blood.
"It’s a natural extension of what we’ve seen with sci-fi to fantasy to vampires to zombies," Roiz says over the phone. "I think people have had their imaginations triggered, and they like it. Fairy tales are sort the last frontier of that."
There is also, he notes, a familiarity with fairly tales. The Brothers Grimm long ago lost their copyright, so the series can dabble with Rapunzel, Sleeping Beauty and Snow White — but in a manner that would give quite a start to a young girl wearing her Disney princess dress.
"It’s nice to see that reawakened," Roiz says of the classics.
