John Pyper-Ferguson on Fringe, new Sanctuary trailer, Grimm premiere pushed back, and more updates

John Pyper-Ferguson guest stars in Fringe 4x02, "One Night in October," tonight at 9 pm (Fox). Here is a new synopsis, from TV Line:
John Pyper-Ferguson (Brothers & Sisters) plays an expert on serial killers who is recruited by the Olivias to track down his alt-self, who on the Other Side has been on quite the rampage. Peter, meanwhile, finds a new way to tap on Walter’s shoulder — for better or for worse.
And a short review from Matt Roush at TV Guide:
Tonight's Top Pick: When worlds collide, Fox's cult gem Fringe (9/8c) is at the top of its game. You've never seen a murder-mystery manhunt like tonight's chilling and provocative episode, in which the Fringe team from the "other" world enlists "our" Olivia to cross over to track down a serial killer in the alt-universe — by bringing along the madman's doppelganger from our world, who happens to be a professor specializing in forensic pathology and profiling. The "what-if" vibes are fascinating as the professor — and by extension everyone in the dual-universe loop — considers the vagaries of fate and environment when confronted with "the path not taken." The story is suspenseful, poignant and wonderfully original.
And yeah, Alphas looks like a recurring gig. The show will be back in 2012.

Also on TV tonight: Tahmoh Penikett guest stars in the season finale of Haven (10 pm, Syfy). Photos and teaser here.

The Nerdist Writers Panel with Michael Taylor, Alan Yang (Parks and Recreation), Genny Hutchison (Breaking Bad) and Ryan Farley (Justified), recorded on August 14, is finally up at Nerdist.com. Taylor mentioned that he joined the staff for a new show called Defiance, currently in development at Syfy. More details at Sci-Fi Storm. He also brought up some interesting BTS stuff from Caprica and Battlestar writers' rooms. A fun panel all in all, go listen.

The premiere of Grimm has been pushed back a week, to October 28. (The new season of Chuck will be premiering on the 28th, too.) NBC has released a new synopsis of the Grimm pilot and photos from the second episode, "Bears Will Be Bears." Here is one with Sasha Roiz:

And the new synopsis for the Grimm pilot):
10/2128/2011 (09:00PM - 10:00PM) (Friday) : INSPIRED BY THE CLASSIC GRIMM FAIRY TALES—NICK BURKHARDT'S LIFE IS TURNED UPSIDE DOWN WHEN HIS FAMILY’S LEGACY IS REVEALED—KATE BURTON GUEST STARS—After the mysterious brutal attack of a local college co-ed, Portland homicide Detective Nick Burkhardt (David Giuntoli) discovered he is descendant of an elite line of criminal profilers known as "Grimms," charged with keeping balance between humanity and the mythological creatures of the world. As he tries to hide the dangers of his new found calling from his fiancé, Juliette Silverton (Bitsie Tulloch), and his partner, Hank Griffin (Russell Hornsby), he becomes ever more entrenched in the ancient rivalries and alliances of the Grimm world. With help from his reluctant confidant, Monroe (Silas Weir Mitchell), a reformed Grimm creature himself, Nick must navigate through the forces of a larger-than-life mythology. Reggie Lee and Sasha Roiz also star.
A new cast portrait has been posted on the show's Facebook page.

What definitely is airing on October 21 at 9 pm is Supernatural 7x05, "Shut Up, Dr. Phil," with James Marsters and Charisma Carpenter guest starring. The CW has released the synopsis for the episode:

Sam and Dean track down her husband, Donald (guest star James Marsters), to see if he can help. Scott Porter has done a few more interviews. Snippets below, from USA Today (about The X-Men anime series):
Porter is the first to admit that until this animé series, he has never been a huge Cyclops fan. Instead, he liked his brother Alex, aka Havok, a lot more. But he started to appreciate the raw, optic-blasting power that Cyclops possesses and his leadership.

"Some people call him a stick in the mud. That's not it," Porter says. "In order to get this band of rebels and group of mutants safe and operating properly at all times, he has to be in total control.

"I started to really get into his history and exactly why he is that guy, and it really impressed me. I'm actually more of a Cyclops fan now than I ever thought I would be."
From Next Movie (about the X-Men: Destiny game):
So what was it like finally getting to be a superhero, or at least having your voice be one?
It was incredible bringing Adrian to life. I think that we have a really unique opportunity to introduce new characters to X-Men fans and new characters that are grounded in X-Men lore and just steeped in it. I mean, Aimi [voiced by Jamie Chung] is Sunfire’s daughter, Adrian is the son of the Purifier. The state of the world of the X-Men right now, it’s very important; the battle between them and that Adrian is coming into this is very intense. It was amazing to be a mutant, for once.
From The Kansas City Star:
Porter's training in Texas was in musical comedies and theater. He wanted to work on something like a stage show in television format and found that with "Hart of Dixie."

"Every scene that you see is a portrait. And every character is so well thought out. But there's a lightheartedness and a fun kind of feel to the show that I think television really needed and I needed personally. I needed to be able to laugh and smile and have a great time and be a little ornery and be a leading man for once. And they have created a wonderful town and a wonderful character in George Tucker for me to be able to do that. So that's why I'm here. I'm very excited about it," Porter says.
And from MNN.com:
Asked to go back to "The Good Wife," he turned down the offer. "My whole heart is in 'Dixie,'" he puns, explaining that he loves everyone involved with the show and its lighthearted tone. "I've done serious roles for quite a long time and in Hollywood you're only the type of actor that whatever the last project you did says you were," he points out. "I loved the fact that I could build the character up from the ground floor," he adds, describing George as "not your regular kind of hero figure. He's not a wet rag kind of leading man. He's got an ornery streak in him. I'm really excited to see how George interacts with everybody." The fact that he gets two beautiful love interests, played by Rachel Bilson and Jaime King, isn't bad either, he says.
Patton Oswalt was on Conan yesterday. He mentioned that his new show, The Heart, She Holler premieres on Sunday, November 6 at 12:30 am on Adult Swim. Here is the clip, from Huffington Post:
