Eric Stoltz might be coming back to weekly TV. He has been cast as the lead in a new Lifetime pilot, Modern Love. Report from Deadline.com:
[Modern Love] follows newspaper science editor Simon McElvane (Stoltz) as he faces a deteriorating marriage, the ramifications of potentially starting over and balancing his relationship with his adopted 15-year-old daughter. Unexpectedly handed the job of editor of the newspaper’s Modern Love column, Simon discovers he has a lot to learn about life and love.
Sasha will be back on Warehouse 13 next Monday. Alessandra Torresani will join him the week after that.

La Bamba was supposed to change everything. Oh, the Latino wave. It was a good movie, and then they tried to imitate it with Lambada and The Forbidden Dance. You notice Hollywood takes something that hits and tries to do a cheap knock off.
But they've changed in that you may have more opportunities now. There's Jay Hernandez in Saw. He was a Latino guy, but it wasn't about being Latino. That's what I'd like to see. It's gotten better, but it's still hard to get meaningful and centered role, not just the flavoring. Hollywood insults its audience's intelligence by assuming if there's a Latino name up there it becomes a Latino movie. You don't call Al Pacino movies Italian movies.
One thing I love about this movie is look at this -- I'm Puerto Rican, Judy Reyes is Dominican, and Harmony Santana is half Puerto Rican, half Dominican. It's like a sort of synchronicity. And by the way, Harmony is an actual transitioning person. It would not have worked with an actor-- Daniel Day Lewis, Laurence Olivier, it would not have worked. This movie works because it's the real thing, and the heart and soul that was evinced from Harmony is something people will identify with.
Using a real transgender person lets us in. You see her getting ready, and you see her putting things on. It was so informative. You see what she goes through to get her injections and to get her hormone blockers. This is a movie from our community for all communities to better understand and embrace our own children.
The first footage from The Hunger Games, with Paula Malcomson, will be shown at the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards (Aug. 28, 9 pm).

The New Zealand DVD release date for A Night for Dying Tigers has changed to February 15, 2012.
John Pyper-Ferguson will make an appearance in the Alphas season finale, which airs on Monday, September 26 at 10 pm. Maureen Ryan at AOL TV has the report:
Another veteran of the 'BSG' universe, 'Caprica' actor John Pyper-Ferguson, will have a key role in the season finale of Syfy's 'Alphas,' a drama about people with extraordinary abilities.The same article has an update on Blood and Chrome, which is still in post-production (Doug Drexler mentioned a couple of weeks ago that there were about 2,000 unfinished VFX shots). As it turns out, it still might end up being a web series:
Pyper-Ferguson, who also appeared on ABC's 'Brothers and Sisters,' will play Stanton Parish, the man whose writings inspired the members of Red Flag, an organization of Alphas who don't want to play ball with the authorities. The Red Flag will be a growing presence in the Syfy show's first season, and if 'Alphas' returns for a second season, expect the Red Flag faction to return.
Pyper-Ferguson played the tech titan Tomas Vergis in the 'Battlestar Galactica' prequel 'Caprica,' and he's also got a role in another 'BSG' project, 'Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome.' In the latter project, he plays a character named Xander Toth, and, just to provide a bit of clarity for the 'BSG' super-nerds like myself, the roles of Vergis and Toth are unrelated.
Given the amount of work still being done on 'Blood and Chrome' (which was written by 'BSG' scribe Michael Taylor and will act as a possible pilot for a TV series), it sounds as though 'Blood and Chrome' is still something of a work in progress and an announcement about a release date is not particularly imminent. Stern said Syfy is still weighing whether to release this combat-oriented 'BSG' prequel as an online series (which was the original plan back when the project was first commissioned) or to bring it to air as a backdoor pilot, which is still a possibility.Side note here: last June, Michael Taylor said the plan was to release it as an X-box movie and possible backdoor pilot. The online series announcement wasn’t made until Comic-Con.
Riese: Kingdom Falling (with Ryan Robbins, Leah Gibson, Alessandro Juliani, Richard Harmon and Ben Cotton) will be released on DVD in Australia on September 14.
Ryan Robbins has a new project in the works, called The Philadelphia Experiment. No details yet, but Emilie Ullerup and Gina Holden are also involved.
Richard Harmon mentioned that he will be working on The Haunting Hour again. Meanwhile, a couple of new festival dates have been added for Judas Kiss:
• Judas Kiss screens at the Winnipeg Reel Pride Film Festival on Saturday, October 8, at 7 p.m., at the Gas Station Arts Centre, 445 River Ave., in Osborne Village. A Q&A and reception will follow the screening featuring star Charlie David. Tickets are $8.Patton Oswalt has been cast in a new untitled comedy that starts filming this week. Knoxville and Oswalt will play battling brothers who attempt to honor their ailing father by taking a troop of boys on a camping trip. It all goes awry.Patton was also spotted on a movie set in New York, but it’s a little unclear what he was filming. Caught on Set has some photos.
