If IMDB is anything to go by, Hiro Kanagawa makes an appearance in tonight's episode of Fairly Legal, "Ripple of Hope." He will also be appearing in Robert Redford's upcoming thriller The Company You Keep, as "FBI Agent Kanagawa."
Deadline reported this week that Grimm writers are already working on the show's second season, which might be premiering sooner than expected, in August. Here is the synopsis for tonight's episode:
Nick (David Giuntoli) and Hank (Russell Hornsby) are called to investigate the mysterious death of a wealthy matriarch, after her stepdaughter loses everything in a Ponzi scheme. Meanwhile, Juliette (Bitsie Tulloch) does some digging into the mysterious death of Nick’s parents in an effort to help him find closure. Silas Weir Mitchell, Sasha Roiz and Reggie Lee also star.

Duke with Kendall Cross premieres on the Hallmark channel tonight at 8 pm and airs again at 10 pm. Here is the synopsis:
Marine Sergeant Terry Pulaski, a once proud man, is now a broken shell of himself having returned from Iraq with both PTSD and a disabling injury. Terry struggles to be a good father and husband, but his challenges leave him feeling like a burden to his wife and daughter. With his dog, Duke, in tow, he decides to leave his family behind. Years later, a homeless Terry needs help for an aging and ill Duke, so he reaches out for help at a nearby veterinary clinic. Will Duke be able to help Terry reach out again to try and reconcile with his estranged daughter?

Not sure if I mentioned it, but Eric Stoltz directed an episode of Californication last year. The episode now has a title and an air date: "Love Song," February 12. Spoiler TV has the synopsis.
Magda Apanowicz has a new credit on the IMDb. She will make an appearance in episode 1x06 of Holliston, the first original series from the FEARnet cable channel. The show is a horror sitcom, it premieres in April, and Magda will be playing "Goblin." Her episode is called "Weekend of Horrors."
The Chuck two-hour series finale airs this Friday, so Grimm is taking a break. Here are a couple of photos of Sasha Roiz in episode 1x10, "Organ Grinder," which airs in two weeks:

Tahmoh Penikett is in Scott Turow's Innocent, a TV film that premieres on TNT as part of the network's mystery movie night at 9 pm. Spoiler TV has the press release and a behind-the-scenes video.
Aaron Douglas' episode of Flashpoint that aired in Canada a couple of weeks ago airs in the U.S. tonight at 10 pm on AON.
Patton Oswalt guest stars on Raising Hope in episode "Bro-gurt," which airs at 9:30 pm on Fox. Synopsis:
When the National Invention Convention Extravaganza comes to town, Virginia encourages the family to submit their own inventions that could bring home a large cash prize. Burt teams with the family’s neighbor Andrew (guest star Ethan Suplee) and invents unusually flavored yogurts, while Jimmy partners with Sabrina to develop a new baby mop. When convention day arrives the competition between each team escalates as they pitch their inventions to Andrew Dice Clay (guest-starring as himself). During the competition, the family ends up realizing family and friends are what matter the most.

Grimm finally premieres tonight at 9 pm on NBC and a bunch of new articles and interviews have showed up since yesterday.
Teresa Jusino has an excellent new interview with Sasha Roiz at Tor.com, mostly about Grimm, but some of this other recent projects get mentioned too, including Caprica.
Knowing that Roiz has expressed a preference for fantasy over sci-fi, I asked him whether this being an urban fantasy (created by Angel exec producers, David Greenwalt and Jim Kouf no less!) had something to do with his accepting the role.
“Personally, as an actor, it matters very little me what genre (if any) I’m engaged in.” he says. “It’s all make-believe and requires the same process and imagination. I respond to good writing and good people. I’ve been very fortunate over the years to get both. I think the term ‘genre’ has become very gray in recent years, and we continue to see a crossover as more and more viewers are tuning into to shows that stimulate and indulge their imagination. With Grimm, it’s a lot of fun for me to be able to play within the familiar world of fairy tales. As for satisfying my inner fantasy geek, anything that would have me wielding a sword or shooting a bow would be a dream.”

With only 10 days left before Caprica returns, different news bits are coming in from different places and hopefully there will be more of them in the next couple of weeks. Syfy has sent out screeners for episodes 1x10, "Unvanquished," and 1x11, "Retribution," to a bunch of TV bloggers and journalists, so we'll probably be seeing some reviews soon enough. Until then, here is another quick round of updates:
Michael Hinman (Airlock Alpha) has tweeted the writing and directing credits for the next two episodes. "Unvanquished" was written by Ryan Mottesheard and directed by Eric Stoltz, and "Retribution" was written by Patrick Massett and John Zinman (who had previously written the episode that introduced Vergis, "Know Thy Enemy") and directed by Jonas Pate.

SFX magazine has opened voting for the SFX Sci-Fi Awards 2010. Caprica isn't nominated in all the categories, but it's easy enough to write it in. A couple of acting categories could definitely use our attention. You can vote here.

Two really interesting interviews showed up in recent days. They aren't really related to Caprica, but you might wanna check them out anyway.
Bear McCreary talked to TV Overmind about his work on Human Target. The soundtrack is out in October. You can read the interview here.
Fandomania included an audio interview with Edward James Olmos in their Sept. 20 podcast. Among other things, he talks about how he got involved in Battlestar Galactica, the parallels between BSG and Blade Runner, his experience directing The Plan, working on TheGreen Hornet movie, and reading Ray Kurzweil. EJO will be back on TV in an episode of CSI: NY in October.
Last but not least, Stargate Universe, Caprica's lead-in, is back for a second season on Tuesday, September 28 at 9 PM. Without a major advertising push for Caprica, the ratings will largely depend on how SGU does, so we'll probably get a better idea of where both shows stand with Nielsen viewers this week. Stargate will be up against NCIS: Los Angeles, Dancing with the Stars, Raising Hope and (later also) In Treatment, while Caprica will air against Sons of Anarchy, The Good Wife, Detroit 1-8-7 and Parenthood. With the new TV season kicking into full gear this week, below is an updated list of cast members and shows to keep an eye on in September and October. You may have caught some of these updates on Twitter earlier this week.
Eric Stoltz has definitely directed an episode of Glee this season. The title, "Duets," has yet to be confirmed, but Glee's Kevin McHale and Jenna Ushkowitz told Access Hollywood that it was episode 2x04. The show returns tomorrow (Tuesday, Sept. 21) and, unless there are any breaks in the schedule, the episode should air on October 12 at 8 PM on Fox.
Teryl Rothery made her first appearance on Hellcats last week and, like Battlestar's Aaron Douglas, will have a recurring role on the show. Other than the showrunner (Kevin Murphy) and another recurring guest star (Ryan Kennedy), Hellcats is also borrowing Caprica's cinematographer, Stephen McNutt, this season. Hellcats airs Wednesdays at 9 on the CW network.
Hiro Kanagawa will guest star on Fringe, episode 3x02, "The Box," which will air on September 30 at 10 on Fox. Yes, that's directly opposite CSI: Crime Scene Investigation 11x02, "Pool Shark," with Sasha Roiz.
James Marsters will appear in the Hawaii Five-0 series opener (with Grace Park) tonight at 10 on CBS. After that, he'll appear in Caprica 1x10 (still October 5 at 10 PM) and then in Smallville 10x04, "Homecoming," which airs on October 15 on the CW. In the meantime, he is still shooting the pilot for Three Inches which, according to Mark Stern, likely won't be greenlit to series until next year.
Jorge Montesi, who will be back as the Guatrau in a few more episodes this season, will appear in Human Target, episode 2x04, which will air some time in late October or early November. Season two premieres on Friday, October 1, at 8 on Fox. According to the show's official Twitter, Tahmoh Penikett will guest star in the season premiere.
And this just in: Aleks Paunovic will appear in an upcoming episode of Supernatural according to his Facebook page. No word on the exact date yet, so keep an eye on grandpa Adama on Twitter.
Also worth repeating: Paula Malcomson is a regular on Sons of Anarchy (FX) this season and Scott Porter is a new addition to The Good Wife (CBS), which returns for a second season tomorrow. Both shows air Tuesdays at 10.
Kanagawa plays a character named Cyrus Xander. Apart from acting, he is also a playwright and screenwriter. He has made appearances on The X-Files, Millennium, Cold Squad, Smallville and Gene Roddenberry's Andromeda and will be seen in the upcoming remake of The Day the Earth Stood Still, to be released in December.
Veena Sood (official site), credited for playing Joan Leyte, is also a versatile actor with a background in theatre, film and television. She had recurring roles on Smallville, Godiva's and Little Mosque on the Prairie and is no stranger to Galactica fans: she was recently seen in Sine Qua Non as one of the Quorum delegates.
Brian Markinson, who plays agent Jordan Duram, is another Canadian film and television actor with a number of credits to his name. His recent appearances include Bionic Woman, Navy NCIS, Psych and The L Word.
