Here is the plotline, from the show's Facebook page:
ARCTIC AIR is a one-hour adventure series set in the booming Arctic, about a maverick airline and the unconventional family who runs it.
On the ground, Bobby, the headstrong business partner, struggles to save the airline from crashing financially while Mel, the cantankerous co-owner, keeps his crew of pilots in the air. Caught in the crossfire is Mel’s hotshot pilot daughter Krista. (...)
Over the season this character-based drama will deliver hard-hitting emotional stories – from the romantic entanglement of Bobby and Krista, to the conflicts that spark between Bobby and his competitors, his business partners and even his extended family. There’s a new gold rush heating up under the permafrost, and there are new fortunes of diamonds and oil to claim.
And a snippet from a new article at The Province:
The polished hour-long pilot episode showcases a cast that attests to the depth of the Vancouver talent pool, starting with Kevin McNulty as the airline's crusty owner and Pascale Hutton as his daughter and chief pilot. There is a short teaser on CBC's site, with a quick glimpse of Michael Hogan and Aleks Paunovic, and here is the trailer:
Joining them are Brian Markinson as a shady mining financier, Aleks Paunovic as a rough-hewed prospector, Michael Hogan as a back-woods doctor and Stephen Lobo as a pilot from India seeking adventure up north.
Fans of B.C.-produced TV and movies will see a six-degrees-of-separation vibe linking many of those names, as many have shared screens in everything from Canadian shows (Intelligence, Robson Arms) to U.S. sci-fi (Battlestar Galactica).
Omni Film Productions has pre-sold the show to several European countries based on a promotional trailer. The CBC commissioned the series without seeing a pilot first.
Before Arctic Air, there is a new episode of Bomb Girls at 8 pm on Global. Several new interviews with Meg Tilly showed up on the web in the last few days. She was on Urban Rush:
Here is another interview, from The Gate Mag:
And one from The TV Addict, with her co-stars Jodi Balfour and Antonio Cupo:
