Spacecast.com has a short video interview with Sasha Roiz. He talks about sexuality in sci-fi and the fan response to Caprica.

NBC has announced a definite premiere date for his new show, Grimm: Friday, October 21 at 9 pm. For some new info about the show, you can check out a new interview with the creators, Jim Kouf and David Greenwalt, at Los Angeles Times' site. The Grimm pilot will be shown at Comic-Con on Saturday, July 23.

Jane Espenson’s new show, Once Upon a Time, will also be screened at Comic-Con on Saturday, July 23, at 3:15, with Lost’s Damon Lindelof moderating the Q&A. Buzz Sugar has an early review of the pilot.

The deleted scene from Elektra Luxx with Eric Stoltz has made its way online. You can watch it at the Eric Stoltz Unofficial Site. Also, if you've seen the Leverage season premiere, check out the latest post from the show's exec John Rogers over at the Kung Fu Monkey blog.

Both Gun Hill Road and Judas Kiss had big screenings yesterday. Gun Hill Road was shown at the Outfest in Los Angeles. You can find a bunch of red carpet photos on Esai Morales' FB page and on Wireimage.

The film opens in New York and Los Angeles in less than a month, so here is a timely message from the creators:

When we open in New York and LA on August 5, it is VERY important that we fill the theaters on Friday, Saturday and Sunday (8/5 - 8/7) to be held over and open up the opportunity to take GUN HILL ROAD to more theaters in more cities across the United States.

Bond of Silence, the Lifetime film with Magda Apanowicz, Genevieve Buechner, Calum Worthy, Kacey Rohl and Liam Sproule, has been released on DVD this week. You can find it on on Amazon.

The trailer for Peter Wingfield's new film, 10,000 Days, has been released on YouTube. No release date for the film yet, but you the official FB page is updated pretty regularly and you can keep an eye out for the announcement. Here is the synopsis:

10,000 days ago, Comet 23 struck the Pacific Ocean with the magnitude of all the nuclear weapons in the world. The Best Family was among the lucky few who survived the heat blast and fire storms. And then the freezing began. The comet knocked the Earth away from the sun, encasing the planet in snow and ice. For those who survived, life was violent and dangerous.

The daily battle wasn't just against the punishing climate but against each other for the basic necessities that meant life or death. Still, the weather was growing colder and the ice was expanding. Villages were being crushed by violent tremors. And then the Becks found an object from the past, buried deep in the ice. And with it came a choice. Falling Skies has been officially picked up for another season. From the press release:

TNT has renewed Falling Skies, cable’s #1 new series, for a second season. The epic saga about the aftermath of an all-out invasion by an alien military force has been a tremendous hit both domestically and internationally. Falling Skies, which airs Sundays at 10 p.m. (ET/PT), stars Noah Wyle and comes to TNT from DreamWorks Television and executive producer Steven Spielberg. TNT has ordered 10 episodes for the second season, which is slated to air in summer 2012.

“Falling Skies is a true standout series, from its ambitious storytelling, high-profile cast and production team to its phenomenal success when it comes to international and time-shifted viewing,” said Michael Wright, executive vice president, head of programming for TNT, TBS and Turner Classic Movies (TCM). “We’re reaching new audiences with Falling Skies and look forward to seeing where this fascinating and exciting series takes us next.”

Michael Rymer’s Face to Face movie has added the prize for Best Picture at the Film Festival of Colorado to its awards pile and will be shown at the 2011 Melbourne International Film Festival on July 22 and 26. James Marsters has been cast as David Frost in L.A. Theatre Works’ production of Frost/Nixon (April 19-22, 2012). Stacy Keach will play Richard Nixon. You can get tickets here. On the TV front, some bad news from James' official FB page: Syfy won't be picking up Three Inches to series, but will air the pilot at some point (date TBA).

The first trailer for Born to Race with John Pyper-Ferguson has showed up on YouTube and for some reason it's the German trailer. No English version out there yet. The film will be released this fall.



Related (to JPF, not to screeching tires): Hungry Hills has not been acquired by CBC after all.

MovieWeb has the poster for Tucker and Dale vs. Evil, with Alex Arsenault and Philip Granger, out in theatres in the U.S. on September 30.

The Daily Blam has the trailer for the final part of Mortal Kombat: Legacy, with Aleks Paunovic and Ryan Robbins, which will premiere at Comic-Con.

The Icarus II Project will be at Comic-Con, too (Saturday, July 23, table AA21, 10 am - 2:30 pm). Luciana Carro won't be there because she will be working on a new film for TNT, called Deck the Halls. Details (via LucianaCarroFans.com):

Sci Fi Mafia has two new TV spots for Rise of the Planet of the Apes.

It looks like Leah Gibson might be doing some more theatre in the near future. The play is called Asymmetry and will be directed by Stuart Aikins. You can find some info about it here.

And Patton Oswalt has made a five-second film, Crabwalkin', for 5SecondFilms.com.
