New projects for Alessandra Torresani, Jane Espenson & Bear McCreary

A few pretty cool updates to end the week.

Alessandra Torresani (who will be at Comic-Con next week) has a new project in the works with Jane Espenson and Go Cheeks Go that will be announced on July 20. For a sneak peek, go here and, for possible clues, scroll down to Jane's new Torchwood interview.

If you're going to Comic-Con, check this out:
Battlestar Galactica "So Say We All!" Gathering
Join ANOVOS as we celebrate BATTLESTAR GALACTICA and its fandom! We are planning a large group photo shoot and "So Say We All" event! All BSG fans are invited to join — and you are encouraged to wear your ANOVOS gear (Double Tanks, BDUs, Duty Blues)! Even if you don't have any ANOVOS BSG gear, bring your fan made outfits or just bring yourself!

We want EVERYONE to be involved with this event, so spread the word. Those frakkin' toasters are even welcome!

Oh, and if you can't be at SDCC, do not worry... we're going to UStream the whole event!
Bear McCreary tweets that he will be scoring Knights of Badassdom, the new fantasy/horror/comedy (see FB page) directed by Joe Lynch, with Summer Glau, Peter Dinklage, Ryan Kwanten, Steve Zahn and Dani Pudi starring.

Sasha Roiz posted a photo from the set of Warehouse 13 on his FB page. Here it is, snagged from Eddie McClintock's Twitpic feed:

Sasha did another short film recently (?), called Neighbors, that I keep forgetting to mention. Synopsis below, more details on the official site.
NEIGHBORS celebrates the beauty of unlikely friendships. When Maggie, a quirky shut-in meets her feisty new neighbor, Lamay, a transgendered woman in an abusive relationship, the two begin a strange friendship that allows them both to break free.
Judas Kiss with Richard Harmon and Genevieve Buechner will open the Long Beach Q Film Festival in September.

Collide, a short film with Ryan Robbins, will be shown at the Vancouver International South Asian Film Festival tomorrow (Saturday) at 4:30.

Ryan is filming the new season of Sanctuary these days. Here is a new pic from the set, from Robin Dunne:

The last episode of Los Americans season one, "Going to Mexico," has been posted on PIC.tv. Hit the link to watch it. Meanwhile, another clip from Gun Hill Road, with Esai Morales and Judy Reyes, showed up on Movieclips:

Aleks Paunovic appeared on Life and Style with Zara. A fun little interview, with a familiar clip or two in the background:

Monsters and Critics talked to Jane Espenson about Torchwood this week. Snippets:
M&C: I’ve read that the episodes you have written are 5 and 7. Without spoiling things too much. What can you tell us about those episodes and how do you think they connect to the overall story.
Jane Espenson: I wrote 3, 5 and 7. I also co-wrote episodes 8 and 10, but as my solo efforts, 3, 5 and 7 are my babies. In no particular order, to preserve suspense- one of them is a "dark night of the soul" episode – a chance for the characters to catch their breath and take stock of their situation as it stands at that point in the story.

I like episodes like this because they are so much about character. One of them involves a romance, which was great fun to write. And the other is tense action and shocking revelations.
I love that I was given three such different episodes to write. And I love that such a short season – only ten episodes – would offer such a variety of tones. (...)

M&C: Has writing for Torchwood been a good experience for you and if yes and if the series gets a fifth year. Would you like the opportunity to return?
Jane Espenson: It's been an AMAZING experience, and yes of course, I would return to Torchwood or go anywhere with Russell. I absolutely loved every minute of this experience! I'm working now on a show called Once Upon A Time, and I'm producing my own web series called Husbands, but I'd make time for Russell always and forever!
Again, the announcement about the new project is coming on July 20.

A new episode of Torchwood: Miracle Day airs tonight at 10 pm on Starz. Here is a new season preview (with what I think is a first look at Dichen Lachman's character):

And finally, the trailer for John Carter, with Polly Walker, hit the web this week:

Glad for Alessandra; i loved her in Caprica. Maybe because the character she played reminded me Cameron in Terminator : The Sarah Connor Chronicles.
The list of my favorites shows that gets too early canceled keep growing ;)
